Former Karnataka CM and BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa and other BJP leaders hold protest outside Vidhana Soudha.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Karnataka President BS Yeddyurappa on Wednesday along with Party workers sat on Dharna outside Vidhana Soudha against the Governor for not accepting the resignation of Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) disgruntled MLAs which are in the correct format.

Speaking to media early in the morning, BJP State President BS Yeddyurappa said that they have decided to a sit-in outside the Vidhana Soudha in front of the Gandhi Chowk against the Governor’s delay over accepting the resignation of MLAs.

He further added that he will meet the Governor and the Assembly Speaker. ‘Assembly speaker had earlier stated that 5-6 resignations are in the correct format. Then why there is a delay in accepting the resignation of those 5-6 Legislators.

Earlier on Tuesday, Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar had said that out of all the 13 Resignations submitted only 5 are in the correct format. While rest the remaining Eight is not in the correct format. He asked the MLAs to submit the resignation again properly.

Earlier in the day, Congress Minister DK Shivakumar reached Mumbai to meet all rebels MLAs. However, the Mumbai Police escorted him away from the hotel where the rebels are staying.

Rebels MLAs have written to Police Commission Mumbai seeking security in the wake of Congress DK Shivakumar storming to the hotel to meet them.

The 13-months old coalition government suffered a huge setback on Saturday when 11 MLAs from Congress–JD(S) ruling coalition tendered their resignation.

With the resignation of 11 MLAs of Congress-JDS and 2 Independent MLAs, the coalition government reduced to a minority with 104 MLAs which is 9 less than the required figures. All the rebel MLAs who are currently in Mumbai slammed Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy. However, they junked reports of joining the Bharatiya Janata Party.
