Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Leader and MP Candidate from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur Jaya Prada on Friday knocked the Election Commission seeking disqualification Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan for holding the office of profit while being a Member of Parliament.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, Jaya Prada said that she has written to the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner seeking disqualification of Azam Khan. He is newly elected MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur Lok Sabha Seat, he holds an office of profit.

Prada said, ‘Azam Khan is the Vice Chancellor of Jauhar University, Despite holding an office he contested the Lok Sabha Polls‘. She further said that Earlier Jaya Bachchan and Sonia Gandhi had to quit as Member of Parliament since they were holding Office of Profit.

Further seeking his disqualification, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Leader said, ‘This is wrong that an MLA or an MP is holding an office of Profit. Election Commission should take action on this and disqualify him as MP.

‘I assured Justice to the people of Rampur’, She added. She further slamming Khan said that this is not the first time. Earlier being an MLA, he held an office of Profit despite but no-one complained about him.

She added that if EC does not Act on her complaint, she will approach the High Court.

Both Prada and Khan had a bitter spat with each other during the campaigning of Lok Sabha Polls. In a run-up to the national polls, the Poll Body imposed a ban on Samajwadi Party Senior Leader Azam Khan from election campaigning for 72 hours for making derogatory remarks on BJP Leader and his opponent Jaya Prada.

Jaya Prada joined Bharatiya Janata Party in March early this year and has been pitched against Samajwadi Party Staunch Leader Azam Khan.

In the recently held national polls, Azam Khan defeated Jaya Prada with over 1 Lakh votes.
