Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital. The two leaders are said to have a discussion over the drought situation in the state and many other state-centric issues.
Reportedly, Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the steps taken by the state government to address the water shortage in Maharashtra.

It should be noted that various parts of Maharashtra, especially the Marathwada region is facing intense drought situation.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan. Reportedly, Maharashtra CM demanded an increase in the medical seats in government colleges in the state after the implementation of 10 percent quota for economically weaker section students.
An official revealing the details about the meeting said Fadnavis asked the Union Minister to increase 813 seats at the post-graduation level while 1,740 graduation seat level in Maharashtra. ‘Union Ministers Dr. Harsh Vardhan assures CM Devendra Fadnavis for positive consideration to this proposal’, tweeted CMO Maharashtra.

Devendra Fadnavis in the day also met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and congratulated him.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called the fifth meeting Niti Aayog’s Governing Council on June 15. However, this will be his first meeting after storming back to power in the recently held national polls.
The Governing Council of the Niti Aayog includes all the Chief Ministers, Governors of State, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, several Union Ministers and other officials.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the meeting and will discuss various issues concerning water management, agriculture, and security, official sources told.
In recently held polls, BJP along with its ally Shiv Sena won massively in Maharashtra by bagging 41 seats out of the total 48 Lok Sabha Seats on the state.
