Venezuelan vice president Delci Rodriguez has said on Monday the United States, Colombia and Brazil were preparing a military intervention into Venezuela. The VP has also urged the international community to pay attention to these nation’s “criminal plan”.

Rodriguez was quoted as saying, “The international community and its institutions for protecting legitimacy around the world should know that a criminal plan is in the works to stage a military attack on Venezuela.”

She added saying the US, Colombian and Brazilian officials are intended to ignore the will of the Venezuelan people and launched a military intervention, according to ANI news reports.

However, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has denied such alleged reports, stating, “Brazil does not intend to interfere into Venezuela’s internal affairs. Also, he warned such steps could lead to a guerilla war.

This has come after embattled Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro reportedly announced the expansion of Venezuelan militia by one million by the end of this year.

Venezuela is currently facing a severe economic and politic crisis, for which Maduro has blamed US President Donald Trump, which has been worsened by two power blackouts and an acute humanitarian aid crisis.

However, Maduro has denied claims of the economic and humanitarian crisis in the country. The opposition leader Juan Guaido has, in January, declared himself as the interim president of Venezuela, and also got backing from the US. However, Russia, China and Cuba have backed Maduro.
