New Delhi-based online community for women POPxo, has announced the launch of its e-commerce platform to sell private label merchandise. With a strong user base of over 17 million, the platform has marked its foray into the e-commerce business catering to the millennial audience.

The e-commerce platform called POPxo Shop went live last week and it features products from various categories focused on women like phone covers, notebook, laptop sleeves, coffee mugs, tote bags, multi-purpose pouches and cushion covers, among others.

Just like the content, its merchandise is designed for its audience and there are plans for expanding into beauty and fashion products over the coming few months.

Talking about the new platform, Priyanka Gill, Founder & CEO, POPxo, said, “E-commerce is a natural step because we already have a large user base because of all the content we produce. We realise that there is no strong female millennial product brand in the market right now and that’s why we decided to use the information we have to create a collection of products with strong design language around it.”

Shubham Jain, Business Head – E-commerce at POPxo added, “From design to production and distribution – we are running the entire process in-house and via our partnerships with service providers.  It is very exciting to launch e-commerce for an established brand, loved by millions as we have a large, established buyer base and proven marketing strength.”

POPxo was founded by Namrata Bostrom and Priyanka Gill in 2014. The platform curates content for its vast female audience. With the strong user base of 17 million, the platform claims to have 82% women in the age group of 18-35. It provides content in both English and Hindi, engaging the non-English speaking audience to enhance its penetration further into the masses.

It had raised ₹37 crores in March 2018 in a round led by Neoplux and OPPO, along with other existing investors IDG Ventures India, Summit Media, and GREE Ventures.

With its women-centric content, POPxo competes with other platforms in the same domains as MissMalini and Femina.
