Continuing his affinity towards changing the names of cites of the nation. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath while addressing a rally in Telangana on Wednesday said if BJP comes to power, it will change the name of Karimganj to ‘Karipuram’. BJP Leader said ‘if the BJP government is formed in Telangana, it would work towards respecting people’s sentiments by renaming Karimnagar as ‘Karipuram”.

Earlier BJP Chief Minister from Uttar Pradesh on Sunday in Goshamahal urge voters to vote for BJP if they want to change the name of Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar. He was campaigning at the constituency to give the second term to incumbent MLA T Raja Singh.

“If Hyderabad has to be transformed into ‘Bhagyanagar’ then I call upon you to support BJP to form the government”, he had said.

Raja Singh, the incumbent MLA  who is famous for making controversial statements, has repeatedly been booked for hate speech and inciting communal violence by the police.

Raja Singh on Nov 10 has triggered a new controversy after he said that he would work towards renaming the city of Hyderabad as ‘Bhagyanagar’ if the BJP was voted to power in the state in the upcoming Telangana elections.

The Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh had earlier changed the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj, Faizabad to Ayodhya and Mughalsarai Junction to Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay junction.

Telangana Assembly Elections are scheduled for December 7 while counting of votes will take place on December 11 along with other states assembly elections.
