The Supreme court dismissed a petition filed by Reena N Singh that sought the restriction on the use of offering Loan waiver schemes and monetary schemes in the election manifesto by the political parties to influence people on Monday. A bench of justice headed by Justice SA Bobde dismissed the plea filed by Reena N Singh.

Advocate Reena N Singh on April 18 filed a petition in the supreme court seeking to stop the Political parties from using loan waiver schemes and monetary waves in their election Manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The petition claimed that these schemes have a negative effect on the economy of the country which is being ignored by the parties while propagating their manifestos.

The petition also sought the supreme court’s approval on stopping the Center and state government for reducing or waiving loans. It said that the center and state should not be permitted to either reduce or waive loans.

The plea also asked the supreme court to direct the state and the central government to formulate an agriculture policy which could help in making the industries profitable and would also help the farmers to become financially prosperous.
