Jhalrapatan, an assembly seats in Rajasthan, where all eyes are set as the BJP Sitting CM Vasundhara Raje is taking on the BJP Former MLA Manvendra Singh (as an Official Congress Candidate) in a quick turn of events become more interesting as two more women, who claimed to fighting for the cause of their husband, join forces against the sitting CM Raje.

The two women-Chitra Singh, wife of Manvendra Singh and Mukul Chaudhary,  wife of IPS officer Pankaj Choudhary who had a bad run with present BJP government and was served several charge sheets.

Mukul Chaudhary had earlier announced that she would contest from Jhalawar assembly seat, ‘for the respect and cause of her husband and the benefit of the people of the state’. There were speculations about her meeting with Congress leadership to seek a party ticket from Jhalrapatan. It was being considered that she would fight independent, but on Tuesday she had not filed her nomination. Instead, She will now support official Congress Candidate Manvendra Singh along with Chitra Singh.

While talking to a reporters  Mukul Choudhary she said, “Our aim is same. We both want to defeat Vasundhara Raje and so joining forces was a logical conclusion as we need to consolidate our voter base”.  On asking about seeking ticket from the Congress she responded with “Yes, I did try for a Congress ticket and was given a good response by the top leaders. I even met Sonia Gandhi Ji at 10 Janpath, but I respect the decision that the party took and my aim is that a Congress government be formed,”

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Chitra Singh, wife of Manvendra Singh said, “We are here to fight a battle of self-respect. The party has given us the big responsibility of fighting this seat and we are fighting to win. My father-in-law Jaswant Singh was among the founder members of the party but he was ill-treated. My husband too faced humiliation. This fight is for our swabhiman,” she added.

The state will poll on December 7 to elect a new assembly.
