Congress President Rahul Gandhi who had stitched an alliance with DMK in Tamil Nadu for Lok Sabha Poll is set to launch the Poll Campaign of DMK-Congress Mega Alliance that has a total of 8 parties. Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi is slated to address a public rally at March 13 in Kanyakumari, officially launching the poll campaign for the ‘Umbrella Alliance’.
Tamil Nadu Pradesh Congress Committee (TNPCC) President KS Alagiri informing about Gandhi’s visit and scheduled rally said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi will address a ‘Historic’ joint rally at Kanyakumari. Apart from Congress Chief, DMK Chief MK Stalin, MDMK Leaders and left Partners CPI, CPM will also present in the Mega Rally.
He had earlier in the day held discussion with party workers.
Launching attacks on AIADMK, he said Leaders in Tamil Nadu today lacks principles.
While, DMK’s MK Stalin in a bid to chart out Lok Sabha Polls Strategies called a party meeting on March 11 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. DMK has sought attendance of its all MLAs and MPs. DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan said that the party will also discuss the blueprint of by-polls to 21 Assembly seats.

The Congress has been allotted a big portion of seats among the DMK’s allies, with the Rahul Gandhi led party receiving nine seats in the state, and a single seat of Puducherry. While DMK has decided to field its candidates on 20 Lok Sabha seats. The DMK has allotted one seat each to the MDMK, IJK, IUML and the KMDK. It has also allotted the MDMK one Rajya Sabha seat, the election for which is scheduled for June.
Apart from Congress, DMK has finalized terms with 6 parties. DMK will lead a Mega Opposition coalition in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry comprising – Congress, CPI(M), CPI, MDMK, VCK, IUML, KMDK and IJK.
DMK in the upcoming Polls will directly pose a threat to AIADMK alliance that also have Bhartiya Janta Party. The AIADMK led alliance have – AIADMK, BJP, PMK, KMDK, Puthiya Neethi Katchi and NR Congress. BJP has been offered 5 seats, DMDK been settled for 4 seats, while PMK gets 7 Lok Sabha seats to field their candidates in the mega battle of ballots.
Tamil Nadu has total 39 Lok Sabha Seats while Puducherry has a single Lok Sabha seat.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the Dates of General Elections 2019 very soon as per sources the poll panel is in its final stage of preparations. The General Elections are expected to take place in 6th-7th rounds of polling.
