Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday slammed Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government saying that the saffron party has lied to the voters about every household having a power connection. She further claimed there are still 18 lakh families struggling to get the Electricity connection.

Slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party, Gandhi took a dig at the government’s ‘Saubhagya Yojna’ or ‘Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana’, she said the scheme should be called ‘Vote-Bhagya Yojna’.

Taking to Twitter, Congress UP East In-charge Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘In the Lok Sabha elections, they beat the drum of providing electricity to every household. In UP, however, 18 lakh households still have no electricity connection and they are running every day to power office to get one. The real name of the ‘Saubhagya scheme’ was the vote-Bhagya scheme. Why did the BJP Government lie to the people?’ she wrote in Hindi.

However, this is not the first time that Priyanka Gandhi launched a scathing attack on BJP’s Uttar Pradesh government. Earlier, she had fired a salvo at Yogi Adityanath’s Government over deteriorating law and order situation in the BJP-ruled state.

After a massive poll setback, Priyanka Gandhi is tasked with uphill work to strengthen the party in the state keeping in mind the upcoming by-polls and State Polls that are due for 2022. Priyanka Gandhi had held a couple of meetings post elections 2019.

Priyanka had campaigned intensively for the party in UP, especially in Raebareli and Amethi but the party lost all the seats in UP except Raebareli.

Currently, both the general secretaries of the party – Priyanka Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia – are holding a review meeting in the state to deliberate the reasons behind the poll disaster in the recently held national polls. The party has also dissolved all its district committees of the state in a move to make organizational changes and to revive the party in a long haul.
