With just days left for the last phase of elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi intensifying its hunt to retain power at Centre will visit Mamata Banerjee’s bastion today. PM Modi during his visit to West Bengal will address two address rallies. PM Modi will seek votes for party candidate from the stronghold of Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress.

As scheduled, PM Modi is slated to hold 2 rallies – one in Basirhat Lok Sabha Seat while Other is slated in Diamond Harbor.

“The campaign takes me eastwards today. Happy to be in Paliganj (Bihar), Deoghar (Jharkhand), Basirhat and Diamond Harbour (West Bengal)”, tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi while sharing the campaign pictures.

In Basirhat Lok Sabha Seat, PM Modi will seek votes for party candidate Sayatan Basu who is up against Nusrat Jahan of Trinamool Congress. While Congress and Left have named Quazi Abdur Rehman and Pallab Sengupta respectively. The seat is currently held by TMC Idris Ali who had in 2014 defeated Nurul Hooda of CPI with over 1 Lakh margin.

While later in the day, PM Modi will seek votes in Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha Seat – a seat from Mamata’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee is seeking his second term. Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Nilanjan Roy against Banerjee. While Faud Halim has been named by CPI-M and Soumya Aich Roy is in the fray from the seat.

The seat is currently held by Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee who had won the seat in 2014 with a margin of 60,000 votes.

Apart from these two rallies, PM Modi earlier in the day will seek votes in Bihar‘s Paliganj and Deoghar of Jharkhand.

Trinamool Congress in a run-up to the national elections is facing intense resistance from Bharatiya Janata Party in Bengal that sends 42 parliamentarians to the lower house. BJP in a run-up to the polls is leaving no stone unturned to make a big dent in Mamata’s Bastion and eyeing a lion share from 42 Lok Sabha Seats.

Just like initial 5 phases of elections, Phase-VI also saw violence in the state with reports of clashes between TMC and BJP. BJP President Amit Shah‘s roadshow of Tuesday was also full of violence. TMC to meet Election Commission over violence at Amit Shah’s roadshow in Kolkata

General Elections 2019 is being held across seven phases starting April 11 to May 19. Counting of the votes will be held on May 23. Voting of the remaining 59 constituencies will be held in last and seventh phase of polling slated for May 19.

Polling in West Bengal’s 42 Lok Sabha Seat is being spread on all seven phases. 9 Lok Sabha seats of the state will go to polls in the last phase of the election slated for May 19.

In last 2014 General Election, Trinamool Congress won 34 Lok Sabha Seats, Congress 4, while BJP and CPI(M) won 2 seats.
