Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tribute to first Prime Minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru on his death anniversary. PM Modi took to Twitter on Monday and said, ‘Tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji on his death anniversary. We remember his contributions to our nation’.

Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress Leaders including it’s Chief Rahul Gandhi, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Former PM Manmohan Singh also paid tribute to the first PM of the country at his memorial at Shantivan in the national capital.
“Many democratic nations as young as India, soon degenerated into dictatorships. On his death anniversary, let us remember Jawaharlal Nehru Ji’s contribution in building strong, independent, modern institutions, that have helped democracy survive in India for over 70 years”, tweeted Rahul Gandhi.

Former Vice President Hamid Ansari also paid tribute to Pandit Nehru on his death anniversary.

Congress Leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Former UP Governor Motilal Vohra were among others seen paying tribute to first Prime Minister of the country on his death anniversary. India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru was a staunch supporter of socialism, secularism and democracy.
He served as the Prime Minister of the country from its establishment as an independent country from 1947 until his death in 1964, May 27.
Nehru emerged as a tall leader of India’s Independence movement under Mahatma Gandhi struggle for India’s Independence.
