Jitan Ram Manjhi

Former Chief Minister of Bihar and Founder of Hindustani Awam Morcha, Jitan Ram Manjhi suggested his name for the Chief-ministerial post on Thursday while interacting with the media.

Jitan Ram Manjhi had previously served the state as its Chief Minister from May 2014 to February 2015. Speaking to reporters, he showed his interest in the top-most post of the state administration. He also mentioned the political inexperience of Tejashwi Yadav who is already being projected as a chief ministerial candidate from Rashtriya Janata Dal.

Congress, another significant part of the alliance has yet not projected its name but according to sources, it can be seen that the grand-old party is also apprehensive of Tejashwi Yadav’s candidature.

The remarks from former Chief Minister came few days after the “Mahagathbandhan” alliance had a meeting to pick up its momentum for upcoming polls. Jitan Ram Manjhi is an instrumental part of the grouping of alliance which is seen as the voice of oppressed and weaker sections of society.

Jitan Ram Majhi has also been reported to meet Rajesh Ranjan aka Pappu Yadav who is a strong opponent of Tejashwi Yadav. Rajesh Ranjan was previously expelled from Lalu Yadav’s party for his anti-party activities. After which, he formed his own Jan Adhikar Party. Rajesh Ranjan has been found supporting the chief-ministerial nomination of Jitan Ram Manjhi if their alliance came to power.

In response to these comments of Jitan Ram Manjhi targeting Tejashwi Yadav, RJD national vice president Shivanand Tiwary has accused Jitan Ram Manjhi of not raising the issue of leadership in the “Mahagathbandhan” meeting. He slammed the leader of airing his suspicions on the coalition in public.
