Congress Lok Sabha Leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Monday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party and accused the party of making efforts to topple the Karnataka Coalition Government.

Speaking to media, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the Bharatiya Janata Party do not want anyone else in power. Be it Karnataka or Rajasthan, they are everywhere making efforts to topple the government. Calling the BJP’s attempts as ‘unholy’, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the all these attempts of toppling the government is a threat to democracy.

Further slamming the saffron party, Congress Lok Sabha Leader said, ‘If you look at the series of events, you will see its only the BJP who wants the Karnataka Coalition government to fall’.

Earlier in the day, Congress MPs in the Lok Sabha raised ‘Save Democracy’ slogans and attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for toppling the Congress-JD(S) Coalition government. While Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking in the Lok Sabha, denied BJP’s involvement in overall Karnataka Episode. 

The quick turn of events comes days after 11 MLAs from CongressJD(S) ruling coalition meet Assembly Speaker on Saturday and tendered their resignation giving a big blow to the coalition government of Karnataka.

Speaking about the bill introduced in Lok Sabha that seeks to do away with the automated nomination of Congress President to the Jallianwala Bagh Trust, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, ‘It is unfortunate and sad to see the pettiness of the Union Government. This shows that the ruling party wants to sideline the Congress party from everywhere.

Congress MPs Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and K Suresh have given adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha today over the political situation in Karnataka.
