The Election Commission on Friday suspended four government employees and terminated the services of 10 contract staff of various ranks. They were found guilty of the violation of model code of conduct.

According to the Sources who was familiar with the development, the action had been taken against the officials, including cops, for participating in a political campaign in Karimnagar. Action has been taken on similar complaints across the state where voting is due for December 7.

V Ravi, EO and D Tirupati, clerk of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society of Jammikunta were suspended. U Chandrasehkar junior assistant in Rajarajeswari Temple at Vemulawada was suspended by the district administration in the wake of charges for the poll code violation.

Others who faced similar action includes, Mallupet village revenue assistant Potharaju in Yellareddy, A Usha, town mission coordinator, K Renuka, community organizer of Kagaznagar municipality in Komaram Bheem district as all were found to be indulging in the Political campaigns for parties ahead of Telangana Assembly elections.

EC has received over 5000 complaints related to violation of Model Code of Conduct in a run-up to state polls.

Meanwhile, in a different development, Election authorities served notices on information technology minister and son of Caretaker Chief Minister KCR, KT Rama Rao and health minister Dr. C Laxma Reddy for alleged violation of poll code.

Chief electoral officer Rajat Kumar has asked the Hyderabad district election officer Dana Kishore to submit a report on allegations that KT Rama Rao and Laxma Reddy addressed a gathering of AYUSH doctors. The department has informed the CEO that it was a private meeting. However, the CEO has sought a report from the district election officer.

In another instance, KT Rama Rao was served notice for posting photos of newspaper clippings on his twitter handle. The newspaper clippings are about starting of well-known technology centers in Hyderabad. Opposition parties alleged that such announcements amount to poll code violation.

The state will poll on December 7 to elect a new assembly, while the counting of votes is slated for December 11 with four other state elections.
