As the EC is all set to make this election ‘accessible’, people with disabilities find it more easier to tackle the obstacles and go ahead to the poll station to vote.

Election Commission makes voting easier for disabled people with its new braille voter slips and PwD friendly measures. As the first phase of voting begins today the Election Commission of India comes about with more facilities for the PwD in the general elections, 2019.

The voter slips in Braille are also available in black and white is being distributed to the visually impaired. Besides this EC’s apps which function on the Playstore make this general election a hassle free process. Voter helpline, Suvidha, CVigil are some of the apps useful in this process. These apps let persons with disabilities to ask for pickup, demand wheelchair at the polling booth. For the wheelchair facility one can simply enter their Electors’ Photo Identity Card number (EPIC). According to reports almost 2,000 ramp facilities have been ensured so that this election can be ‘accessible’ for all-as the EC puts it.

The first phase of the General elections begins today in 92 seats in parts of Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Assam, Manipur, Odisha, Tripura, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh.
