A 15-member joint delegation of Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) submitted a memorandum to Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik over the matter of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav stopped at Lucknow Airport yesterday when he was going to Allahabad University.

In the memorandum submitted to the governor Ram Naik, the SP and BSP, who last month announced their alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, alleged that the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav was stopped “undemocratically” by the police on an order of the “dictator” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath‘s government.

‘We met the Governor to discuss the grave situation in Uttar Pradesh. We have asked him to take action against the Dictator Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his undemocratic action of detaining the Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’ said Samajwadi Party state functionary.

This comes hours after Uttar Pradesh Police has registered a case against 296 people in connection with the protest by Samajwadi Party (SP) workers yesterday. 46 people, including 2 MPs, have been named in the case registered.

SP workers had on Tuesday raised slogans against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the state government after their leader was stopped at the Lucknow airport. Akhilesh was on his way to Allahabad University to attend a swearing-in ceremony of a student leader.

‘The government is so afraid of me going to attend a student leader’s swearing-in ceremony that I am being stopped at Lucknow Airport’ Akhilesh Yadav said in a tweet. BJP and all their supporters were considering this Allahabad University election as their own elections. Govt & all the ministers were contesting the polls. Whenever CM went to university, he must have been ordering his people that these polls must not be lost, Former CM Akhilesh Yadav said.

Ramgopal Yadav pointing a gun towards Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “I directly blame the CM. Akhilesh had permission. It was at the directions of the CM that he was stopped. They didn’t even let him reach Allahabad”.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath speaking about the incident said, ‘SP should refrain from its anarchist activities. Allahabad University requested that Akhilesh Yadav’s visit may create law & order problem because of the dispute between student organizations. Hence the government took this step’.

BSP Supremo Mayawati, who had recently stitched an alliance with Samajwadi Party also condemned the action. She said Condemn that Akhilesh Yadav was not allowed to hold an event in Prayagraj. Is BJP govt so scared of SP-BSP alliance that they’ve started banning political events? They seem to be using Kumbh for political agenda. Not allowing Akhilesh Yadav to go to Prayagraj proves that’.

However, the university had said in a letter that politicians were not allowed to attend the event.
