Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Mayawati on Monday slammed Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government after the State’s Power Corporation proposed a hike in electricity tariffs for domestic consumption.

‘Government’s preparedness to give a sharp blow to the oppressed people of UP and also the BPL families by drastically increasing electricity rates is condemnable. After the Lok Sabha elections, will the BJP Government, in the same way, hurt the 20 crore people of UP? This increase will not turn the fortune into a misfortune plan?’, Mayawati said in a tweet slamming UP Government.

Raising the issue of crimes against the women’s, BSP Mayawati also slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led UP Government for deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

In another tweet, BSP Supremo said, ‘The deteriorating law and order situation in UP, as well as the anarchy in relation to the lives and dignity of the sisters and daughters of the society, is a matter of extreme grief and anxiety. Contrary to government claims, the floods of all kinds of heinous crimes across the state have caused panic among the people’.

It comes on the backdrop of massive protest over the murder of a minor girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh. The girl’s mutilated body was found in a garbage dump on June 2.

Earlier on Saturday Samajwadi Party (SP) president Chief Akhilesh Yadav met State Governor Ram Naik and handed over a memorandum the ‘deteriorating law and order situation’ in the state. He met Governor at Raj Bhawan in the state’s capital.

Expressing concern, Yadav said that it is unfortunate that these incidents are happening, is this how civil society looks like’.

Raising questions over the state government, Akhilesh Yadav said Girls are safe not under this government, What is the government doing. He further said, ‘Daughters are raped and murdered, is this the new India’.
