Biju Janata Dal, the ruling power in Odisha has announced to launch its membership drive for inducting new members from 2 Septemeber. The decision has been taken in the wake of upcoming civic polls in the state.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik formed a state-level committee of 7 members on Friday to oversee the implementation of the drive. Other members of the proposed committee include Rajya Sabha MP Prasanna Acharya, MLAs Debiprasad Mishra, Pranab Prakash Das, Pratap Keshari Deb, Pradeep Panigrahi, and Pramila Mallick, and former legislator Sanjay Kumar Das Burma.
On Friday, Naveen Patnaik also released a new list of party observers. The list contains names for all the 30 districts and it will be implemented with an immediate effect.
Bhartiya Janta Party had also launched its membership drive earlier in July for Odisha polls.
