Increasing the tension in Maharashtra politics, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that the party will be dropping its “wait and watch mode” in the government formation.

The comments from Shiv Sena came after BJP minister Sudhir Mungantiwar issued a warning that the president’s rule may be imposed if a new state government is not in place by November 7. He further attacked the saffron party of threatening to impose the President’s rule.

As quoted by ANI, he said, “If there is a delay in forming the government in a state and a minister from the ruling party has said that President’s rule will be imposed in Maharashtra if the government is not formed, is this a threat to those MLAs who have been elected“?

On being asked about the Congress MP Hussain Dalwai‘s letter to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi over forming a government with NCP and the Shiv Sena, Sanjay Raut said that his letter should be welcomed.

He further added that despite the ideological difference, all parties are talking to each other regarding the formation of the government. However, he took a jibe on the existing political situation and said all parties are talking expect the BJP and Shiv Sena.

In the recently concluded polls, BJP won 105 seats while Shiv Sena secured victory over 56 seats. Nationalist Congress Party and Congress registered a victory on 54 and 44 seats respectively. Shiv Sena and BJP have been involved in a tussle over the power-sharing agreement in the state. While Shiv Sena is pushing its demand to implement the 50:50 formula, the saffron party is insisting on following its own rule.
