Congress Leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Monday severely criticized the Manohar Lal Khattar led Haryana Government for not announcing the sugarcane prices. Demanding an announcement on the Sugarcane prices, Surjewala said the Haryana Government should announce the price before the crushing season.
He also criticized the government for mounting sugarcane payment arrears to be paid to the beneficiaries (Farmers).
Surjewala accused the Haryana Government of functioning with the “private sugar cane mills’ owners” and ignored the interests of the farmers across the state. The Continous neglect of sugarcane farmers by the Bhartiya Janta Party led Government has led numerous Challenges and financial hardships to the lives of farmers. Surjewala alleged that one can understand anti-farmers and anti-people mindset that the BJP has towards the farmers.
“The huge delay in the announcement of sugarcane prices has led to an unprecedented situation where farmers are not getting their payments, leading to huge pile up in sugarcane payment arrears,” said Congress Leader.
Attacking the Centre and State Government, Surjewala said that both the Government in State and Centre has cheated the farmers and the people. He reminded that in last elections, the BJP duped farmers through various election promises and unfortunately harsh reality is that farmers of Haryana are waiting for their pending sugarcane prices.
