Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi PM-KISAN Yojana formally with the implementation of Rs 75,000 crore Scheme and distributed the first Instalment of Rs 2000 to over one crore farmers during his Visit to Yogi Adityanath‘s Bastion Gorakhpur and Prayagraj’s Kumbh.

The Prime Minister also congratulated the beneficiaries of PM-KISAN Scheme. He also congratulated farmer families engaged in dairy farming, and fisheries, as they now have access to Kisan Credit Cards.

Addressing a gathering at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Bastion in Gorakhpur, PM Modi said that this day is etched in history, because the biggest scheme for farmers since independence, has begun today.

Taking at dig at previous UPA Government, PM Modi said, ‘The loan waivers announced periodically by earlier Governments, did not provide long term or comprehensive relief to the farmers, PM-KISAN will not only provide them relief but will also mark a massive investment in the rural economy’.

The Prime Minister said that the entire region of Eastern Uttar Pradesh is undergoing rapid transformation. Industry, Connectivity and the Health sector are all witnesses to this change, he added.

He also said that about 10,000 crore rupees worth of projects for the development of Gorakhpur and Eastern Uttar Pradesh have been either inaugurated, or the foundation stone laid for them, today. He said these projects will improve ease of living. He said that schemes such as PM AwaasYojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat etc are symbolic of the spirit of SabkaSaath, SabkaVikas.

PM-KISAN Yojana was announced in this year’s Union Budget. The Kisan scheme, launched to address farm distress, guarantees 6,000 annually to farmers with less than 2 hectares of land, in three instalments.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day also attended Kisan Sammelan in Gorakhpur. PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for many development projects before flying to Prayagraj to attend Kumbh.

PM Modi in an unexpected gesture, washed and wiped the feet of sanitation workers. The unexpected gesture was seen during the event “Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhaar” award – an acknowledgement for the efforts to keep the mela grounds clean.

PM Modi later shared the images of the event. He tweeted, ‘‘Swachh Kumbh, Swachh Aabhaar’ was a great platform to honour those great women and men who have worked tirelessly to keep the Kumbh at Prayagraj clean. Here are some glimpses from the programme’.

PM Modi also took a dip at the Sangam in Prayagraj for the ongoing Kumbh Mela.
