PM Modi Assam CM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called up Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and took a review of the flood situation of the state. It should be that the state is facing deluge which has claimed 11 lives this year while millions of lives are affected.

In a telephonic conversation with PM Modi, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonawal informed the PM Narendra Modi about the present situation of the state and told him that 31 out of 33 districts are severely hit the latest spell of the deluge.

PM Modi assured Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonawal of providing all sort of assistance from the Central Government in dealing with the current situation.

‘Had a telephonic conversation with Hon’ble PM Shri ji, who took a detailed stock of the flood situation in the state. The PM expressed wholehearted support and assured all cooperation towards the people of Assam & efforts of the Govt in providing relief & rescue’, tweeted Assam Chief Minister on Monday.

Prior to this, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the situation of the state. Shah, later, directed National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and concerned agencies to provide all possible help to the people living in flood-affected regions of the state.
‘Held a discussion with Union Home Minister Shri ji over phone this morning. Apprised him of the prevailing flood situation in Assam and measures taken by the state govt. The Hon’ble Minister assured all possible support from the Centre to deal with the situation’, tweeted Chief Minister on Saturday.
The Flood situation in the state got even worse on Sunday with the death tally rising to 11 and over 26 lakh people directly hit by the current spell of the flood.
Out of the 31 districts affected, Assam’s Barpeta District is the worst-hit region with the lives of over 7 lakh people hit by the deluge. While in Morigaon district, around 3.50 lakh people are hit.

Apart from the districts, the Habit of the Great Indian Rhino and World Heritage Site is also affected by the current spell of rain. While about 70 percent of the Kaziranga National Park is facing the flood flurry.
