Actor Kamal Haasan who has made its entry into the Political Arena by launching Political Party, Makkal Needhi Maiam, MNM early this year on February said that he will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

“I will definitely contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. A committee would soon start choosing candidates,” Haasan said on Saturday while talking to Media.

On asking about forging an alliance with any party, MNM Chief Kamal Hasan said that his Party is open to align with any like-minded party whose central focus is the development of the Tamil Nadu.

Hasan said ‘It has been decided that Party will contest on all 40 Lok Sabha Seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in an alliance will like-minded parties. We will align with Parties having the same ideology and having a focus on Development of Tamil Nadu.

However, he said it is too early to say about which party will be in the alliance. “We have not spoken to anyone. Let the talks happen. The size of the alliance will determine whether we will be part of or lead the alliance,” said Haasan.

Hasan also said that party is no rush and will wait to decide to Contesting Assembly By-polls on 20 seats. 18 assembly constituencies were declared vacant following the disqualification of rebel AIADMK legislators who represented these seats. Two more seats became vacant after the death of legislators M Karunanidhi (Tiruvarur) and A K Bose (Tiruparankundram).

Responding about his earlier statement that MNM is willing to align with Congress party, Kamal said that option continues to be there while ruling out an alliance with the BJP. “The BJP has been ruled out in at least five states (in the south),” he said.
