Chief Proctor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Waseem Khan has refuted the statements made by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta in the Supreme Court and said that they never allowed policemen to enter the University campus. However, I-G Meerut range issued a clarification saying that the S-G was referring to Aligarh Mulism University Proctor and not Jamia, just after Jamia Chief Proctor contradicted the S-G.

In a conversation with The Indian Wire, Chief Proctor of Jamia, Waseem Khan said, “We haven’t given any permission to the policemen. Neither written nor orally. The policemen entered the campus without permission. We have also written to the Ministry of Human Resource Development, requesting them to conduct a judicial inquiry into the incident.”

No clarification from the Solicitor General has come yet.

Earlier today, while the Supreme court was hearing a case on violence in Jamia and Aligarh Muslim University during protests against Citizenship Amendment Act, Solicitor General of India, Tushar Mehta claimed in front of the court that the police was allowed by the proctor of the university to enter the campus premises.
