Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday held a meeting to review the flood situation in his state that has devastated the considerable part of the state. The worst-affected parts of the state are Kolhapur and Sangli districts.
Heavy criticisms were leveled from the opposition members against Devendra Fadnavis for leading “Maha Janadesh Yatra” at a crucial time of natural emergency. Currently, the Chief Minister was rallying the Yatra as a BJP campaign which was launched for targeting 250 plus seats in the upcoming elections.
Therefore Chief Minister stopped his outreach program and chaired the meeting to review the flood situation. The meeting saw the participation of State’s water resources minister Girish Mahajan, co-operation minister Subhash Deshmukh, PWD minister Eknath Shinde, Revenue minister Chandrakant Patil, Environment minister Ramdas Kadam. District collectors of the flood-affected districts were also present in the meeting.

In the meeting, He urged officials to ensure availability of essential items like food and drinking water to the affected districts such as Raigad, Kolhapur, Sangli, and Palghar. Chief Minister also asked the Water Resources department to share the information on water discharge from the nearby dams.

He urged the officials to ensure the availability of medical teams to these affected areas. The direction was also given to look after the special care of children in flood-affected areas.
Earlier on Tuesday, He sought Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to seek help for rescue measures by deploying agencies like NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), Indian Army, Air Force, and Coast guards.
To alleviate the deteriorating situation, NDRF teams have been deployed in the parts of Kolhapur and other areas. Here, the team has rescued over 1000 people with their knee-deep rescue operations.
Sufficient teams of NDRF, SDRF have been deployed.
Navy, Army, Airforce, Coast Guard teams are also engaged in rescue & relief efforts.
