Huawei P30 Pro

Users who care about the durability of their smartphones have likely heard about Zach Nelson a.k.a JerryRigEverything. Zach puts new smartphones through a series of tests that examine the overall durability of the smartphone. The latest device to come under the rigorous test is the Huawei P30 Pro.

The first test that is usually conducted by Zach is the scratch test, where he scratches the screen of the smartphone with a different material in order to see what is the smartphone’s screen made of. In terms of the Huawei P30 Pro, the display is made up of tempered glass is seen getting scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7. The glass-sandwich smartphone encased in tempered glass stood strong in the bend test as well, where the phone was barely seen flexing even with the massive pressure applied on it. To recall, the Huawei P20 Pro did not do so well in the bend test as it had its screen cracked under pressure.

The frame of the Huawei P30 Pro is made up of metal and that helps the smartphone maintain its sturdiness despite having a delicate look. The back of the phone is quite resistant to scratches as well, and even the camera at the back is protected by tempered glass that does not let scratches to occur easily as Zach was seen putting heavy scratches with a blade but to no avail.

Zach also put the display of the phone under a flame and the pixels on that particular area of the display disappeared only to appear later. The smartphone’s display was seen not functioning briefly, however, a reboot got it right on the track.

Zach scratched the display over the in-display fingerprint sensor to see if it was able to recognize the fingerprint even after the abuse. And, surprisingly, the in-display fingerprint scanner worked despite being subjected to the scratches, lending more weight to the durability of the smartphone.
