Only one Hollywood film ‘Welcome to Marwen’ starring Steve Carell in the lead role is scheduled to release this week in India. The film follows the true story of Mark Hogancamp, who lost his memory after being physically assaulted and created a fictional village to ease his trauma.
The synopsis of the film reads, “Welcome to Marwen tells the miraculous true story of one broken man’s fight as he discovers how artistic imagination can restore the human spirit. When a devastating attack shatters Mark Hogancamp (Carell) and wipes away all memories, no one expected recovery. Putting together pieces from his old and new life, Mark meticulously creates a wondrous town where he can heal and be heroic. It also stars Leslie Mann, Diane Kruger, Merritt Wever, Janelle Monáe, Eiza González, Gwendoline Christie, Leslie Zemeckis, Siobhan Williams, and Neil Jackson in pivotal roles.
The film is directed by Academy Award winner Robert Zemeckis and produced by Jack Rapke, Steve Starkey, and the director himself.
‘Welcome To Marwen’ was released in the USA on December 21 last year and although having a good story it was criticized for the tone and screenplay. The film turned out to be a box office flop.
