The Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik has announced Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and income augmentation (KALIA) scholarship for providing financial assistance in higher education in professional courses for farmers children in the state.

Addressing a congregation in Keonjhar, Odisha, Patnaik informed the scholarship can be availed by the farmers children only and state government will be bearing the cost for the same. He also tweeted for the same, stating

“I want your children to be engineers, doctors, professionals. Let your children study well and the state government will take responsibilities of their higher studies,” Patnaik said while addressing farmers.

He added that to avail the scholarship, the students are required to secure admission to state-run colleges, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of merit.

KALIA, being the scholarship provided to the farmers’ children, also provides ₹5000 for Rabi and Kharif season to the farmers along with ₹10,000 per family, which is now being extended for providing scholarship to farmers children as well.
