If fresh reports to be believed, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress may come together to forge an alliance in Delhi to take on Bhartiya Janta Party in Delhi for Lok Sabha Polls 2019. As reported by Hindustan Times, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has approved the initiation to hold parleys with Arvind Kejriwal-led party in Delhi for the upcoming General Elections 2019, a Congress leader directly involved in the discussion said as a report by Hindustan Times.
Congress Leader stated that Both Parties have started Backchannel talks on Friday with a top Congress strategist close to the party leadership speaking to a senior Aam Aadmi Party leader.
The Congress leader added that after Gandhi’s approval, the party’s central leadership was in the process of persuading those Delhi leaders who had been against forming an alliance with the AAP. Earlier reports claimed that DPCC Chief Sheila Dixit said, ‘Top Leadership of the party had held a discussion over poll tie-up with AAP in the national capital but most of the leaders are not in favour joining hands with the AAP for Lok Sabha Polls’.

But it is now claimed that Party Top Brass is in the process of persuading those Delhi Leaders who have been against forming any Alliance with the AAP.
A Congress Leader further told the English Newspaper that, ‘If all goes well, we will announce the Poll tie-up with AAP next week before the announcements of Schedule for Lok Sabha Polls’. However, the leader added that The Alliance in the National Capital will be totally delinked from the Other States’.
Sources claimed that the AAP wants Congress in Punjab for sure, and perhaps even Haryana and Goa, two other states where it has some presence. The formula likely to be suggested by the Congress to AAP leaders is that the two parties contest three seats each with the seventh going to a consensus candidate or a celebrity.
However, it is expected that AAP would bargain for more seats.
Earlier on Thursday, It was reported that DPCC Chief Sheila Dixit has declined the AAP’s proposal to forge an alliance in national Capital.
The Change of stand-in Delhi Congress assumes significance as the party is gearing up to brighten its fortunes in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, considering that the BJP had bagged all the seven seats at stake in the capital in the last general elections.
The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) had swept the state by winning all seven parliamentary seats with a vote share of 46.40 per cent in 2014 General Elections. The AAP came second with 32.90 per cent votes, pushing the Congress to the third with 15 per cent vote share.
