Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah‘s three poll rallies slated for today in Jharkhand were cancelled due to bad weather amid the cyclone strong Fani which had early in the day hit the neighbouring state Odisha.
BJP State Spokesperson Pradip Sinha speaking to media made the announcement about the cancellation of Shah’s rallies in the state. However, he added that State CM Raghubar Das, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey and other leaders will address the rally.
Shah as per the original plan was slated to address rallies in Koderma, Khunti and Ranchi district of the state, where polling is scheduled for May 6.

The BJP in the state has forged an alliance with All Jharkhand Students’ Union (AJSU) and has offered a single Lok Sabha Seat. The party has named Former CM Arjun Munda as its candidate for Khunti Parliamentary Seat. Arjun Munda has been pitched against Kalicharan Munda of the Congress.
While the party has named Annapurna Devi as its Candidate for Koderma Lok Sabha Seat. Devi, a former RJD State Chief has joined BJP in a run-up to the polls 2019. Devi has been pitched against Babulal Marandi of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and CPI(ML)’s Rajkumar Yadav.
While in Ranchi Lok Sabha Seat, BJP’s Sanjay Seth is pitched against Congress candidate and former union minister Subodh Kant Sahay. While Ramtahal Choudhary, five-time BJP MP, has quit the party and filed nomination as an independent from Ranchi after being denied ticket.
Jharkhand’s bordering districts like Dumka, East and West Singhbhum are on alert following the cyclonic storm Fani hitting the Odisha coast.
Lok Sabha Polls 2019 has already begun and is being spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Voting to 14 Lok Sabha Seats of the state will take place in four phases- April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
