Mahindra says that the brand is setting a benchmark when it comes to the compact SUV segment, and as a product, the all-new Mahindra 3XO looks promising. Priced at Rs.7.49 Lakh onwards (ex-showroom, Delhi), the completely revised iteration of the already existing XUV 300 feels absolutely modern. Finally, it is also loaded with several segment-first features to help it stand out.

Mahindra XUV 3XO: #EverthingYouWantAndMore Justified?

The head clearly mentions “Everything you want and more”, and that is because the all-new XUV 3XO is loaded with features and technology that have been introduced to the segment for the first time. But before we jump into that, let’s go through more details related to the design first.

Design

The look of the XUV 3XO is nothing familiar if you compare it with the SUV it is replacing. However, if you are someone who admires the XUV 700, this is kind of similar to it. Again, similar and not something that everyone would like.

Starting with the front profile, it now features a major makeover in the form of a black piano grille. The headlamp assembly has been revised completely with long DRLs to give it a modern touch. At the rear, the compact SUV feels refreshed, all thanks to the infinity LED tail lamp and a wider body. The sides now feature a set of newly designed alloy wheels.

Mahindra mentions that the XUV 3XO was conceptualised at the Mahindra Design Studio in Mumbai. Meanwhile, it was engineered and developed at the Mahindra Research Valley, Chennai. The SUV is expected to roll out from the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Nashik.

Interior

The interior might look familiar, but it still complements the changes on the outside. A perfect balance between practicality and premiumness, it features an Ivory theme with soft touch material across.

In terms of features, the XUV 3XO is loaded up to the brim. However, to name a few, the compact SUV comes with dual-zone climate control, twin 26.03 cm HD screens (for the touchscreen infotainment system and driver’s display), a 65W USB-C charging port, a wireless charger, a Harman Kardon Surround Sound system and Skyroof.

To make it safer, the carmaker offers the SUV with 6 airbags, disc brakes for all four wheels, a switchable passenger airbag, a 360-degree camera and 3-point seat belts for all the seats.

Engine & Transmission

Mahindra XV 3XO is available with multiple engine options, including a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. There is even a turbocharged petrol engine available with an overall output rated at 130 PS and 230Nm.

For transmission duties, a manual gearbox is offered across the range. Meanwhile, for added comfort, the carmaker also offers various automatic gearboxes.

To change the response of the steering, Mahindra offers three modes: Comfort, Normal and Sport. There are three power modes, including Zip, Zap and Zoom, on the petrol automatic variants to play with the output.

Other Details

In India, Mahindra XUV 3XO continues its rivalry with other sub four meter SUVs. The list includes some big names such as Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, etc among others. For the first time, this segment gets Level-2 ADAS, and that’s with the XUV 3XO.
