OnePlus’s previous flagship smartphone, the OnePlus two was expected to receive the sweetness of Android Nougat. However, according to recent confirmation, the OnePlus 2 will not receive any major android upgrade.

In terms of specs sheet, OnePlus 2 is capable of  running android Nougat, as the device packs SD 810 SoC along 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB onboard storage. Here is a official statement from the official customer support letter received in their users forum.

“As much as we would like to give the latest update on the OnePlus 2, we’ve discontinued updates for dated devices. But we will continue to support the limited warranty for current users and provide updates and support the best way we can even for OnePlus 2 users.”

Originally, the device was expected to receive Nougat update by the end of the December 2016. If companies cannot keep up their promises, why they claim it in the first instance? If you still need to experience Nougat, one can do with the risk of bugs using third party ROMS like Cyanogen or Unicorn ROMS.
