The authenticity of Chinese smartphones have always been a topic of debate among technical experts. They provide the best features at a very affordable rate. Some are considered to be genuine and some are not. But a recent discovery has made the consumers to rethink a thousand times before purchasing a Chinese smartphone. One particular Chinese smartphone brand has been found to be stealing data and money from the users.

The name of this particular smartphone brand is “Tecno” which also has two sub-brands, namely Itel and Infinix. All three of them are providing the best smartphones under a small budget. All three of them are famous among people of India. But recently, mobile security service Secure-D and BuzzFeed investigated the brands and found that there were two malware in the Tecno W2 phone – xHelper and Triada. Sources say that the malware installs applications on the phone and subscribes to paid services without authorization from the user. Apart from this, they also consume a large amount of prepaid data.

Transsion Holdings, who are actually the owner of the Tecno brand said that they knew about the presence of those malware and shifted the entire blame to the supply chain of those smartphones. According to sources, Secure-D has helped to block around 844,000 fraudulent transactions because of the presence of malware in Transsion phones. Reports also say that the same problem has been found in Alcatel smartphones that provides the best specs at a very cheap price in Brazil and Myanmar.
