South Africa finally breaks down the chain of semi-finals.

As they finally reach the final of an ICC tournament in history.

Till now, they have played eight semi-finals, and this was the ninth one in which they won.

Their semi-final journey started back in 1992 when they lost their first semi-finals against England.

After that, in 1999 and 2007, they lost the semi-finals against Australia.

Then, in 2009, they lost the T20 World Cup semi-finals against Pakistan.

In 2014 lost the T20 WC against India and in 2015 lost the CWC semis against New Zealand.

And then, recently, in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, they lost the semi-finals against Australia.

Now, they have finally broken the haunting series of losing semi-finals.

They reached the finals of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup.

Match Details

The first semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup were going to be played in Tarouba.

The match was between Afghanistan and South Africa.

Afghanistan were playing their first ever ICC Tournament semi-finals.

And South Africa, who wanted to break the chains of the semi-finals.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first.

Afghanistan Innings

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran opened the innings for Afghanistan.

Marco Jansen didn’t let them settle, as they took the wicket of Gurbaz in the first over.

In his next over, he bowled Naib, as Kagiso also didn’t stay back.

In the next over, he bowled Zadran as SA bowlers started to give frequent breakthroughs to the Afghani team.

One by one, each batsman was coming and going back.

They stopped the Afghanistan team with a total of just 56 runs.

This is the lowest total in the history of the T20 World Cup semi-finals.

Marco and Tabraiz took three wickets each, while Kagiso and Anrich took two wickets each.

South Africa Innings

Quinton de Kick and Reeza Hendricks opened the innings for SA.

Quinton in the second over lost his wicket as the captain Aiden Markram came in to bat.

He and Reeza easily helped South Africa win the match and reach the finals.

And by this win, they finally reached the final of the ICC Tournament.
