Gearing up for the mega battle of ballots, the Communist Party of India(CPI) has announced to contest in some seats of Uttar Pradesh. The left-leaning outfit has so far named Candidates on 9 Lok Sabha Seats of the state and is in the process to name more in the upcoming days.

CPI’s Uttar Pradesh unit Secretary Girish speaking to media about the party’s aim said, ‘At the start of the general elections 2019, we have reached out to all opposition parties including Congress, BSPSP-RLD for a poll tie-up as our main target is to defeat Bharatiya Janata Party in the mega polls 2019′.

However, after failing to get any assurance from all opposition party, We are left with no option but to field candidates.

The CPI has earlier in its first list named Candidates from West Bengal and Kerela. The party in its UP Mission has named following Candidates:

  1. Satish Kumar from Bareilly seat
  2. Chandra Koree from Shahjahanpur
  3. Mahendra Pratap Verma from Banda
  4. Ashish Singh from Gorakhpur
  5. Triloki Nath from Lalganj
  6. Santosh Pratap Singh from Balia
  7. Atul Kumar Anjan from Ghosi Seat

The Red party has in the year 2014 fielded 8 Candidates and 58 candidates in UP State Assembly Polls 2017.

While the Other left Outfit CPI(M) has announced not to named any Candidate in UP and has extended its support to Grand Alliance of BSP-SP-RLD.

The Red Outfit in the mega polls will take on BJP, Congress and Grand Alliance comprising – BSP-SP-RLD.

Apart from Uttar Pradesh, the party has named candidates from Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar. The party has named Prabhakar Jaiswal from the East Champaran seat (Bihar), Arjun Kumar from Chatra (Jharkhand) and Keshkali Kol from Shahdol (Madhya Pradesh).

With this list, the CPI has announced 31 candidates, including former JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar from Begusarai seat in Bihar. While in West Bengal, The CPI is a part of a CPI(M) led alliance.

General Elections are slated to begin from April 11 and would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019.
