Days after taking charge as Karnataka Chief Minister, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Veteran leader BS Yeddyurappa on Tuesday held a meeting with state officials along with legislators from Kodagu district. In the meeting, he took stock of the relief work done by the previous government in the region.

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa led Karnataka Government also ordered Kannada & Culture Department, to not celebrate Tipu Jayanti. The decision was taken during yesterday’s cabinet meeting. The order came after BJP lawmaker KG Bopaiah raised the issue seeking cancellation of the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan

SG Siddaramaiah-led Congress government had started government-sponsored celebrations on 10 November, since 2016.

Among other decisions, the Chief Minister also issued an order withdrawing the powers and corporations in the state.

While earlier in the day, he accompanied BJP legislator Vileshwar Hedge when he filed his nomination for the post of Karnataka Assembly Speaker.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran leader BS Yeddyurappa on Friday, last week, took oath as the 25th Chief Minister of Karnataka three days almost Congress-JDS coalition government collapsed after facing defeat in the trust vote in Assembly.

Earlier on Monday, BS Yeddyurappa won the trust vote through a voice vote in Karnataka Assembly.

Taking to Twitter, Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa said his government will be stable and transparent. ‘Winning the trust vote is, taking one more step closer towards a stable and strong administration. Will uphold the trust by ensuring transparent and accountable governance. I would like to thank the citizens, MLAs and each and every BJP Karyakartha for the trust placed in me’, said BS Yeddyurappa in a tweet on Monday.

BS Yeddyurappa took over the post of Karnataka Chief Minister after HD Kumaraswamy led coalition government last week fell after it suffered a defeat in the floor test of the assembly.

With 20 MLAs defying the party whip and were absent for the floor test, the strength of the 225-member Karnataka Assembly was reduced to 207 with 104 as the halfway mark for a simple majority. JD-S and Congress with 99 votes got defeated by BJP’s 105 votes.
