Gujarat MLAs in Karnataka resort

After six Congress MLAs’ left the party ahead of the crucial Rajya Sabha polls, Gujarat Congress flew down over 40 of its MLAs’ to Eagleton Resort in Bengaluru to prevent further cross over on July 28.

Karnataka’s Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar was put in-charge of holding the Gujarat MLAs’ together. The minister had been in-charge of such resort stays of MLAs’ during times of crisis for Congress party earlier as well. Recently, detectives from the Income Tax Department are conducting search and seizure operations at Eagleton Resort on Bengaluru’s outskirts and at D.K. Shivakumar and his brother, D.K Suresh’s house also. Two separate rooms which were booked by both the ministers were also broken open and was searched in their absence.

Multiple teams of IT sleuths swooped down on these locations simultaneously at 7 a.m on 2 August. Sources said other locations of close associates and relatives of the minister-MP duo were also being searched. Each room of the resort where the legislators are presently holed up is being searched apart from an audit of bills for their stay, to track down the money trail.
