It was expected that PM Modi and President Xi Jinping will hold an informal meeting along the sidelined G-20 summit in Hamburg on 6 July. Unfortunately, China feels that the atmosphere is not right to hold such kind of meeting. This meeting was planned by the leaders of BRICS in order to break the ice between the two nations.

India and China are engaged in an impasse in Dokalam area near Bhutan tri-junction for past three weeks. This happened when a Chinese construction party tried to build a road there as they assume that Doakalam is a part of Donglong region of China.

China refused to hold any such meetings until India army withdraws its troop towards the Indian side of the boundary in order to sustain repose of the Chinese and Indian border areas. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Geng Shuang, termed this is a pre-condition for any bilateral talks between the two nations.

A Chinese news report quoted that they will be forced to use military ways if India refuses to listen to their ‘historical lessons’.
