Uttar Pradesh Madarsa Council issued orders on Friday that Independence Day will be celebrated in all madrasas and singing of National Anthem and Nationa Song has been made compulsory. Not only this, but the order also states that videography will be done of the celebrations and sent to the council for confirmation of the orders being followed.

The order also read that during the celebration of the Independence Day the children should be educated about the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and tribute should be paid to the martyrs. Orders of organising games and sports for the children are also given.

There are about 8000 madrassas in UP, but those who come under the Madrasa Council are about 560 madrassas. These madrasas that fall under the council are fully financially supported by the UP government and the government pays all their expenses.

Yesterday a similar notice was issued by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Mumbai stating that Vande Mataram will be mandatory in all the schools running under it. This proposal passed in BMC has been sent to the Commissioner for approval.
