Karnataka’s department of information technology and biotechnology took initiative to invest ₹3.18 Crore in the development of 12 startups in undeveloped areas like, agriculture, biotechnology, security, communications, and robotics. The startups have been selected on the grounds of application of the technology, practicality, feasibility, and innovation.

Priyank Kharge, information technology and biotechnology minister of India mentioned that “We have always supported startups in the state and will continue to do so. These 12 startups were chosen because they have the potential to make a difference,”

Gaurav Gupta, principal secretary of information technology and biotechnology commented that “Bengaluru is the IT hub of the country, however, we now see that startups in the fields of agriculture, biotechnology, security, communications, robotics, and gaming are springing up rapidly. Our vision is to promote and mentor these startups, and provide them with all the assistance they require to become completely self-sufficient,”

Moreover, the selected startups are also part of Idea2PoC (Proof of Concept), a scheme being implemented by the Karnataka Startup Cell, under the state’s IT department. Initially, they all will receive funding of ₹50 lakh.
