airlines in India

Civil aviation ministry on Friday announced India’s first No-Fly list with provisions of actions to be taken against passengers for their unruly behaviour with co-passengers or airline staff. According to the level of crime, the list proposes a ban between three months to lifetime.

Speaking on the announcement, RN Choubey, Aviation Secretary said that they have categorised the offence caused by unruly passengers in three categories and these categories will have a ban of three months, two years and lifetime respectively. He also said that once a passenger is proven guilty, he will also have a provision to appeal against it.

The announcement also stated that all airlines will have to appoint a committee of 3 members which will look into all such complaints. Once a complaint is made, the committee has to give its decision within 10 days.

The announcement did not have any mention of ban by all the airlines at a time, like they did recently in case of Shiv Sena MP, who was accused of beating an Air India passenger.
