Six farmers protesting against the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government were killed in police firing in Mandsaur earlier this week. The farmers are protesting with demand to higher minimum support prices (MSP) for their produce and a complete loan waiver.

As the agitation of the farmers is increasing and is also spreading across other states, BJP in MP conclude that party leaders there may not be able to convince protesters to give up the agitation. To overcome this situation and control the agitation of the farmers the party has decided to send their senior party leaders and Union ministers like Thawar Chand Gehlot and Narendra Singh Tomar to talk to protesters.

The party is also thinking about sending local veterans from retirement and using their influence on the people and announce long term measures to employ the youth. Party veterans like Vikram Verma, a BJP leader from Indore who has virtually retired, is also being asked to pacify the agitators.

A senior BJP leader alleged that CM Shivraj Singh could not handle the situation as he did not use influence of the right party members to pacify the agitating farmers.

Another BJP leader said that the agitators protesting, mainly comprise of the youths. They are basically frustrated because of unemployment and to solve this major issue the government plan to train the youth on how to set up small enterprises for making products from the crop.

Apart from this, CM Shivraj Singh has announced an indefinite fast from Saturday for restoration of peace. He said he would be available at the Dussehra Maidan from 11 am for farmers to come and discuss their issues but also warned that unruly elements would be dealt with strictly.

Meanwhile, the Central government has asked states adjoining Madhya Pradesh to keep strict vigil against the spread of farmers protest.
