Over the years many Bollywood films had to change their film titles before release. It happened with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram Leela and now it has happened with Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb. The film is now titled Laxmmi just a few days before its release.

Why did this happen though?

A discussion took place between the film’s director, Raghava Lawrence, and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Not wanting to hurt the viewer’s sentiments, the produces of the film which includes, Akshay Kumar, Shabinaa Khan, and  Tusshar Kapoor decided to change the film’s title.

Reports had come that the makers of the film had received a legal notice from Shri Rajput Karni Sena. They wanted the film’s title to change, as they felt that the makers are deliberately using the title ‘Laxmmi Bomb’. Members of the Karni Sena felt that it was done to lower the dignity and cause disrespect to the Hindu Goddess.

What is the film about?

A man gets possessed with the spirit of ghosts, who want to seek revenge. How he does that forms the crux of the story. While Akshay Kumar plays the lead role of the man, Kiara Advani plays his wife in the film.

Producing the film is  A Cape of Good Films and Fox Star Studios. Shabinaa Entertainment and Tushaar Entertainment are the ones joining them to bring the film.

Laxmii would have graced the theatres on 5 June this year but like other films, it had to face the wrath of COVID-19. Now it is coming out on November 9 on Disney + Hotstar.
