With a claim that budgetary allocation for education has increased by over 25%, this Saturday, the Yogi Adityanath government has quashed all of media reports along with Rahul Gandhi’s ‘baseless’ charge of cut in the allocation of budget for the sector.

Some media houses reported that the government of UP has allocated bare minimum budget on the education section recently. One of those reports presented Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi lashing out at the state government with strong sarcasm.

Rahul had even tweeted that “Great move CM Yogi – next you can save more money by closing all the hospitals”, quoting a news report which claimed education funds had been slashed by as much as 90% in UP’s recent budget.

Waiving off the content and charges from the Congress, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and education minister Dinesh Sharma provided, “The total budget for primary, secondary and higher education in the UP budget for 2017-18 is Rs 62,185.25 crore as compared to the previous budget of 2016-17 of Rs 49,607.93 crore, which is 25.4% higher.”

The the budget for primary education is Rs 50,142 crore this time compared to Rs 38,066.06 crore last time, which is 31.7% more, as claimed by the politician. Being 4.8% higher than last fiscal year, following the similar fashion, the budget for secondary education this year stands high at Rs 9,387.44 crore. Last year, the allocation was of Rs 8,956.86 crore. Going with the trend, the hike in allocated budget for higher education rests at 2.7%.

The state assembly was presented with the budget on July 11 by the Yogi Adityanath.
