The schools and colleges in Bihar are going to reopen soon for students from July 7. The reopening will take place in a phased manner where student of higher classes will be allowed first to enter the institute campus.

However it will not be necessary for the students to attend physical classes. The online and offline classes will be held simultaneously and parents can choose any mode for their children.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) of Bihar Government has prepared a detailed guidelines for this process. The guidelines will be officially released on July 6.

This announcements were made by the State Education Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary. He said that the main purpose of reopening is to minimize any further academic loss of students and decrease the learning gap.

The phased system will first allow the reopening of higher education institutes followed by Schools. The students in schools will also be called in a step-by-step manner where first the classes for higher secondary and Secondary certificate students will begin.

It has been instructed that all the education institutes will function with 50 percent students only. It means that classes will be held on alternate days and students will visit the schools for only 3 days per week.

It will be compulsory for all students to submit a consent form signed by their parents which states that their wards are allowed to attend physical classes at their own risk.

Also, it will be mandatory for all students, teachers and staff members to strictly follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines and protocols like wearing masks, using hand sanitizers, maintaing social distancing and others.

The education institutes are also instructed to maintain regular sanitisation of classrooms, laboratories and other campus areas. Monitoring for health status of all faculties will also be done regularly.

Bihar government has also planned to introduce crash courses for students who were unable to attend online classes during the closure period so that they can cover up the completed syllabus.
