41,386 students pick standard maths; 1,11,001 basic maths.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in January offered the class X board examination students the option to choose between Basic Mathematics and Standard Mathematics. Due to this, 72.84% of Delhi students have chosen a simpler way of solving mathematics by selecting basic mathematics in their board examinations 2020.

CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), a statutory body that maintains and controls higher education in the country has announced such an option to help students who do not have an aptitude for Mathematics.

The decision came when in 2019, 1,66,167 students appeared for the board examination 2019 out of which 24,502 students failed in only one subject – Mathematics.

Interestingly, In India and abroad only 33% of students have chosen basic education due to peer pressure as parents don’t want their kids to ‘feel inferior’ from others by going for an easy option.

CBSE official said, 18 lakh students have chosen Standard Mathematics while 6 lakh students have chosen Basic Mathematics.

Meanwhile, the Date Sheet of CBSE Board examination 2020 for class X and XII will be announced in the first week of January 2020.
