Apple iPhone

Apple will be announcing three new iPhones in 2020 with new screen sizes and OLED panels on all three, according to a report from industry insiders.

The screen sizes will range from reasonably compact 5.42-inch through a 6.06-inch and all the way up to 6.67-inch for the Max model.

The 5.42-inch smaller model will likely replace the current 4.7-inch iPhone 8, the 6.06-inch model is expected to replace the 5.8-inch iPhone XS and the 6.67-inch will replace the 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max. If the report is to be taken as a credible source, it could be expected that the 2020 iPhones will not necessarily be larger but will have larger screens in the same form factor. Apple will be achieving this by minimizing the bezels on the phone.

There have been various reports on Apple going all OLED for all of its iPhones, including the smaller one. Some reports suggest that Apple might go this way in 2019, however, as the year develops, it seems less and less likely for Apple to bring all three of its iPhones with an OLED panel.

This year, Apple will likely launch the successor of iPhone XR with LCD panel while the successors of iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will ship with OLED panels.

Notably, 2018 is the iPhone’s “S” year and the new iPhone 11 is expected to be revealed in 2019, which means Apple might overhaul iPhone design in 2020, which would normally be an “S” year. Notwithstanding, Apple skipped an “S” year refresh once, when the company moved from iPhone 7 to iPhone 8 and iPhone X, therefore it is not certain if Apple will be making changes to the design of the iPhone.

According to the previous leaks and reports, Apple will ship its flagship iPhones–the successors of iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, with triple rear cameras while the successor to iPhone XR will come with dual rear cameras.
