The United States President Donald Trump has described the Pulwama terror attack as a “horrible situation”, the February 14 attack which has claimed the lives of about 44 CRPF personnel in India-occupied Kashmir.

According to ANI news reports, the US president said he was receiving reports over the Pulwama terror attack which was carried out by Pakistan backed and based Jaish e-Mohammed terrorist organization, further stating he would soon issue a statement in the connection of this incident.

Trump said, “I’ve seen it, I’ve watched, I’ve gotten a lot of reports on it. We’ll have a comment at the appropriate time. It would be wonderful if they (India and Pakistan) got along.”

When asked to review the Pulwama attack, Trump said, “It seems like that was a horrible situation. But we’re getting reports, we’ll have a statement to put out.”

Meanwhile, while addressing the press conference at the White House on Tuesday, the US state department deputy spokesperson Robert Palladino vowed strong commitments with New Delhi to combat terrorism in all of the forms as well as called on Islamabad to act against the terror organizations operating in the nation.

Palladino said, “We condemned in the strongest terms possible the terrorist attack that occurred last week on an Indian Central Reserve Police Force convoy in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. We’re committed to working with the Indian government to combat terrorism in all of its forms.”

He added, “The perpetrator of that heinous act claimed allegiance to the United Nations-designated, Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish e-Mohammed and we call on the countries to uphold their responsibilities pursuant to the United Nations Security Council resolutions to deny safe haven and support for terrorists.”

When asked what would Washington seek Pakistan to do specifically in this case of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Palladino urged Islamabad to “fully cooperate with the investigations into the attack and to punish anyone responsibly”.

Palladino, while echoing condolences for the CRPF victims of the terror attack, has noted that the US shares a “close, cooperative relationship with India, a security relationship, and that includes counterterrorism operations”.

He added saying that “and so we’re committed to working with India, the Indian government, and on these counterterrorism efforts, both bilaterally and multilaterally, including at the United Nations”.
