The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has reportedly sought a list of the top five sellers from Amazon and Flipkart, reported by Inc42.

The development comes merely two weeks after the traders’ body CAIT (Confederation of All India Traders) and the DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) held meeting with the representatives of e-commerce unicorn startup Amazon, Flipkart.

According to the DPIIT, the list should includes details of the business done by the top five sellers, investments and e-commerce platforms’ commission agreements with the vendors.

Following the details, the department has also sent two questionnaires to the e-commerce companies to understand their financial structure, business model and the inventory management system.
